RAUMA BICYCLE TRIP

Rauma showed itself from its best during the bicycle trip on the 16th of June.

Nineteen participants in all gathered at noon at the Central Park. After a short snack and collecting the rented bicycles, we went for a walk through the old Rauma town centre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991) and a climb to the water tower from where we got a good birds eye view from Rauma and the region. From there the ‘real’ bicycle trip started, 25km at a leisurely pace with regular stops including one to repair a flat tyre. Luckily one of our members had been a race assistant during the Tour de France ! Our happy Finbel group attracted a fair bit of attention, not in the least two of our beautiful young ladies on a funny tandem buddy bike. From the town, passing the residential areas along the coast, the trip led through the sunny, green forest and farm landscapes to finally arrive at the sauna located at the seaside. Drinks, food, ‘makkara’, swimming, mölkky games and heaps of fun and laughter carried on until the sun dipped behind the horizon.

Many thanks to all the participants and organizers. Hopefully we can repeat this activity again next year with even more bikers!
